Not that my website has anything to do with politics but when Mr. Putin decides to get himself into the kind of mess he’s gotten himself into, one’s got to pause and try to figure out why this man’s just lost all his marbles, invaded a country with thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks all while the entire world’s watching and then denied (still is) it had ever happened. After profound contemplation or musing on the reason that could have pushed this man over the edge, I have concluded it has to be “the name”. It’s Putin. You can’t be named Putin and lead a healthy life. Let’s look at how you can go wrong saying the name “Putin”.
1-First of all, if you’re French, you’ll automatically pronounce it as something like “putang”, which means “prostitute”.
2-If you’re Arab, you’ll say it like “boutine”, which means “boots” in Arabic.
3-In English, all you have to do is stress the second syllable of the name “Putin”, and you’ll end up saying “pooed in” as in “shitted in”. I don’t think anyone would be thrilled about his name being associated with “feces“.
4-In British slang, “puddin’”, which is pronounced like [Putin] but with a [d] instead of /t/, it is used to refer to “plumpy” or “fat” people. It’s a good thing that it is a term of endearment. (hard to imagine that with Putin though).
5-In US slang, in addition to its being sweet, it’s a sausagelike thingy or some sort of bag or skin stuffed with minced meat and other things. The thing is that it resembles a “sausage”, which, in slang, is used to refer to…take a wild guess!
So there you have it. That explains all the animosity between Mr. Putin and the west. Now here’s a little bit of Putin’s rap. Vowel /eɪ/ is going to be the key rhyme. It’s been highlighted in red for you. Let’s go:
Hurry give the man another name before he goes utterly insane, invades another Ukraine and drags us all into a painful world war game all over a name that’s been Mister Putin’s bane and the bane of people’s lives in the Ukraine .
Could you think of any other ways to say the name “Putin”? Share and comment 😉
PS: If you are Russian and think that this is offensive, I truly apologize in advance as I don’t mean to offend…you.
