Native Speakers of English and Body Language

Please do not assume that I am suggesting you learn the English speakers’ body language (although it wouldn’t hurt but it’s just not what this article is about). What I’m suggesting though is that you watch the body language of English speakers during speech to get a better grasp of the English stress and intonation.  By watching the body language of English native speakers, especially when they happen to be having an open debate, a heated discussion, a quarrel, or simply using the language in any other emotionally charged situation, you get some form of clear guidance on thoughts organization, also known as “chunking” or simply the manner in which we package information for the listener to understand the overall message we intend to convey. Usually, the head, face, and especially the hands play an enormous role in this packaging as you can see in the example below. Watch the clip to listen to the sentence below.
