Katakana should be outlawed!

That is how you fix the English fluency problem in Japan.

The Katakana characters were created in the 9th century by Japanese students of Buddhism as a solution to the complex Kanji writing during lectures. Times have changed people! Change with the times. Now, Katakana is only used to Japanize what can’t be Japanized! There are about 500 common English words used in Katakana, which, if taught and learned as English, will improve the fluency and confidence in the spoken English dramatically.

Here’s an example:

Kontakuto Adoresu

So you say that in a perfect American, British or Australian accent to the Japanese version of an average Joe, you will most likely going to draw a blank (get no response).

I was utterly shocked and appalled when I worked at Japanese public schools and saw the Japanese teachers intentionally using Katakana in the classroom just “not to scare the students” they said! Are you sh*…ing me? And they have the audacity to speak of reforms! What a joke!
